Find your way to the Congress

By train

The Main Railway Station in Kraków (Krakow Główny) is located in the city centre. The city has direct railway connections with Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Bratislava and Budapest.

By plane

There are two airports near Krakow: in Balice (Krakow Airport) and in Pyrzowice (Katowice Airport).

Krakow Balice Airport (John Paul II International Airport Krakow – Balice) is located about 15 kilometres west from the city centre. It offers over 160 connections.

  • From Krakow Balice Airport to the city centre: A modern train operated by Koleje Małopolskie runs between the centre of Krakow and Krakow Airport. The train stop is located adjacent to the terminal, at the rear of the multi-storey parking lot. The stop is connected to the terminal by a covered footbridge. The train schedule is available on the Małopolska Railway website. Krakow Airport is also served by buses 209 and 300 and night line: 902, which are agglomeration lines. The bus stop is located near the passenger terminal. Please check the website here.
  • From Pyrzowice (Katowice Airport): You can reach Krakow by bus (Flixbus and Matuszek) or you can order private transfers with one of these companies: Matuszek, or Krakow Shuttle

By bus

MDA is the bus station in Krakow, directly connected with the Main Railway Station. Buses run on many regional, national and international routes. Ticket sales are carried out at the ticket offices in the station (Monday-Sunday 7.00-19.45), directly from drivers and on the websites of some carriers. It is particularly convenient to travel to Krakow by bus from major Polish cities such as Warsaw, Katowice, Wrocław, Rzeszów, and Zakopane, as well as from international destinations including Prague, Vienna, Munich, Lviv, and Kyiv.

By car

A dense network of national and international roads leads to Krakow, which is connected by the A4 motorway forming part of the European route E40. Motorway tolls in Poland are collected electronically or at toll gates, depending on the section. You can purchase an electronic vignette and check toll prices through the official Autopay system or the e-TOLL, or consult a map of toll sections on the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.

Electronic information boards on access routes provide drivers with updates on traffic conditions and guide them to P+R (park and ride) parking lots. A full list of Krakow’s P+R facilities, including locations and availability, can be found on the Zarząd Transportu Publicznego w Krakowie website.

Moving around Krakow

By public transport

A public transportation map of Krakow is available here.

You can travel by public transport only with a valid ticket, which must be purchased prior to boarding. Tickets should be validated upon entering the vehicle (tram or bus) in the stamping device, otherwise you risk incurring a fine. If you buy a ticket using the contactless terminal inside trams, validation is automatic.

Ticket validity is based solely on time, the number of transfers does not matter.

Tickets can be purchased via contactless payment, in ticket machines, kiosks, or information centres. They are also available online through the official ZTP Kraków ticket page.

Find more information in the KMK Public Transport page.
